Employment Support Staff – Waverly

This is a regular part time position, scheduled approximately 30-35 hours per week. This position focuses on providing supported employment services and job coaching for individuals with disabilities working in small groups at local businesses including Trinkets & Togs.
The applicant must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license, car insurance, and reliable transportation. One year of experience in human services is required. Generous PTO and 401(k) eligible.
Support Staff - Community Support Services, Waverly or Grundy Center
Are you looking to make a difference in your community? The Larrabee Center is hiring a direct support staff position in our Community Support Services. As a direct support staff, you will be enriching lives of individuals with disabilities and enriching our community.
This is a part-time position, scheduled approximately 15-20 hours per week. This position focuses on skill building and supports for adults with disabilities in their homes and communities during daytime hours. No weekends. Shifts generally 9am to 2pm.
Qualified candidates for this job will have either a high school diploma or a GED and are at least 18 years of age. This position requires a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, a good driving record, and the ability to pass an extensive background check, including checks of the Dependent Adult and Child Abuse registries, the Sex Offender registry, and a criminal history check. Experience in human services preferred.
What is a Direct Support Professional (DSP)? Direct Support Professionals work with adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injury, or serious mental illness. DSPs are there to provide support, assistance, and instruction in learning independent living skills like:
- Maintaining physical and/or mental health
- Managing money and budgeting
- Meal planning and preparation
- Building natural supports and friendships
- Connecting to the community through social/leisure opportunities
- Accessing community resources
- Applying for and maintaining eligibility for benefits and assistance programs
