Disability & Elderly Services

In order to receive services from The Larrabee Center an individual must meet the following entrance criterial

  1. Choose to participate in the program
  2. Have a disability diagnosed by a qualified professional
  3. Be at least 18 years of age (16 for Employment Services)
  4. Be capable of independent mobility and able to meet personal needs (with or without assistance)
  5. Not be harmful to self or others
  6. Have funding available, or be able to pay fees

The first step to apply for services is to complete a referral form. This can be done by the individual/guardian or case manager making the referral. If you are interested in services, we suggest you contact one of our program managers. Contact information is available on the CONTACT US page.

Funding is available for eligible participants through county/regional funds, Medicaid, the Iowa Department of Vocational Rehabilitation or on a private pay basis.

If you are currently eligible for Medicaid, contact your case manager or managed care organization. If you do not have a case manager, please contact us and we can help guide you in who to contact for establishing eligibility for funding.

The Larrabee Center serves as landlord to 11 units in northwest Waverly. These units are eligible for Section 8 (HUD) housing assistance. We do not provide 24-hour supervised housing.

Our free weekly transportation route is available to individuals living in Waverly, Shell Rock and Janesville who are 50 years or older and to individuals with disabilities. To sign up for a ride, call John at (319) 352-2234. 

The Larrabee Center provides services to individuals in Bremer, Butler and Grundy Counties.

The Larrabee Center does not provide children’s services.

The Larrabee Center does not provide 24-hour supervised sites or 24-hour services.

The Larrabee Center can assist clients with budgeting but we do not offer representative payee services.

The Larrabee Center can assist individuals to overcome barriers to living independently in the community. Areas of focus include maintaining health/mental health, social and communication skills, leisure and recreation, financial planning and budgeting, daily living skills and building natural supports, as well as employment related skills training and supports to assist individuals to become employed in the community.

Trinket & Togs

Trinkets & Togs Thrift Stores are owned and operated by The Larrabee Center, Inc. Trinkets & Togs helps meet the mission of The Larrabee Center by offering work and volunteer opportunities to individuals with disabilities. Revenues from the thrift store support client services as well.

Trinkets & Togs accepts gently used clothing, household goods and furniture during regular business hours. If you are unsure about a donation you would like to make, please feel free to call the store in Waverly at (319) 352-8029 or in Grundy Center (319) 825-8030 or in Cedar Falls (319) 260-2237. We do not offer pick up for donations.

We do not offer furniture delivery. We do ask that if you are purchasing a large furniture piece our staff will do their best to load furniture into your vehicle but ask that you bring help if possible to assist.

We allow customers to put a hold on furniture items only. Furniture items can be held until the end of the following business day.

Return Policy: ONLY electrical & battery operated items that do not work can be returned for STORE CREDIT within 7 business days with the original Trinkets & Togs price sticker and store receipt. Any item with an “As Is” sticker cannot be returned. NO CASH REFUNDS

We offer receipts to our donors upon request.

Gift certificates are available for purchase in the amount of your choice. E-Gift Cards are also available in any amount HERE

We operate solely as a thrift store and do not offer consignment.

Other

There are many ways to get involved in supporting our mission. First, be sure to sign up for our e-newsletter to receive quarterly updates and information on special events. Follow us on social media including Facebook and Instagram and share updates/posts/events. We can use volunteers in our thrift store operations.
